Community mini grid, an Australian first

Australia’s first solar-powered mini grid was launched in Yackandandah, north-east Victoria, in early December. The grid comprises 169 homes with rooftop solar systems, battery storage and a smart energy monitoring and management system. The volunteer organisation Totally Renewable Yackandandah (TRY) collaborated with Mondo Power and AusNet services on the project, which aims to power Yackandandah with 100% renewable energy by 2022.

You can find an infographic showing how the mini grid works on the Mondo Power website.
