CONASTA 65 in Brisbane

The STELR team spent most of last week attending CONASTA at Somerville House  in Brisbane. Sessions were presented by Peter Pentland on Sustainable Housing, Pennie Stoyles on Wind and Solar Energy and Dr Greg Smith on Carbon dioxide - friend or foe? Greg is from Charles Darwin University, who is one of our partners writing new STELR units. Australia's Chief Scientist, Alan Finkel, gave the Stanhope Oration where he spoke on the theme of Superheroes of Science Teaching. Alan is a fellow of ATSE and the architect of the STELR program.

STELR would like to thank all participants who came to the sessions and visited the STELR display. WE are happy to announce that the winner of the STELR Solar Car (drawn at lunchtime on the last day of the conference) was Amanda George, a pre-service teacher from the University of Newcastle. Congratulations Amanda!

We would also like to thank the conference organisers for a very well run event and commend them especially on the amazing cakes served for morning tea on the final day.
