The world’s longest wind turbine blade

Last week a Danish company, LM Wind Power reported that they have commence manufacture of the world’s longest wind turbine blades. One blade is 88.4 metres long and when three are attached to the turbine it will have a diameter of 180 metres, longer that the Melbourne Cricket Ground and 33% bigger than the London Eye. The blades will be used in an 8 megawatt offshore wind turbine in Germany and one turbine will power 10,000 homes.
