Back in May 2015, STELR news reported on the progress of the solar-powered plane, Solar Impulse 2.
After several months in Hawaii undergoing maintenance it flew across the Pacific Ocean to California in late April, taking 62 hours for the journey. The plane has since flown to Phoenix, Arizona. Although it travels at an average speed of 40.4 mph (64.6 kilometres per hour) it has broken several records for an electric plane. The plane is powered by 17000 solar cells and custom-made batteries.
