The National Solar Schools Program in Australia and the Schoolgen project in New Zealand have installed 2 kW solar electricity systems in schools. Data about instantaneous energy production, total energy produced and CO2 savings from these schools is accessible through the internet. The data can be downloaded as column graphs or as Excel spreadsheets for students to make their own graphs.
The data allows you to compare the power outputs from identical systems at different geographical locations and get your students to think about why there might be any differences or similarities.
Data from participating Queensland, New South Wales and New Zealand is available from the following link.
